Citrus Heights welcomes newest restaurant, as economy reopens

By Mike Hazlip—
While many restaurants have struggled to stay afloat during the pandemic, one restaurant in the region has expanded to Citrus Heights.

Fukumi Ramen, a popular Japanese noodle restaurant in Roseville, officially opened its second location in Citrus Heights last week at 5410 Sunrise Blvd., next to California Fish Grill. The restaurant shares a patio area with the next-door grill, and also offers indoor seating.

An employee confirmed the location’s first day was Tuesday, March 30, and said business has been steady. Customers were seen waiting for orders while Sentinel staff visited the location over the weekend, and kitchen employees were busy keeping up with to-go orders.

In a prior interview with The Sentinel in December, owner Sylbi Song said she opened the first location in Roseville with her husband, Han, earlier last year. The restaurant has quickly earned more than 200 reviews on Yelp, averaging 4.5-out-of-5 stars.

Song said her husband develops the recipes and does most of the cooking at the restaurant. She said they chose Citrus Heights for their second location because of the amount of activity and restaurants in the area.

Fukumi features Hakata style ramen, described as “simple ramen [that] consists of a silky smooth pork bone broth (tonkotsu) with extra thin noodles and minimal toppings.”
