Summer kick-off event, car show held in Sunrise Mall parking lot

By Mike Hazlip—
The Sunrise Mall parking lot was humming with activity Saturday as classic vehicles joined the weekly farmer’s market for a “Summer Kick-off” event.

Sunrise MarketPlace Event Coordinator Julie DePrada-Schott told The Sentinel the event was well-attended despite the days high temperatures. She said the car show and kids activities like inflatables helped increase foot traffic for the event.

Car show organizer Mary Gromer told The Sentinel about 80 vehicles turned out for the event, but due to the heat she decided to end the event early as temperatures began to rise, noting concern for some elderly vehicle owners.

Pearl Bond was among vendors at Saturday’s event, selling greeting cards and other items. Bond said business was steady throughout the morning hours.
