Biography
Ogata Kōrin was a Japanese Asian Antiquities artist who was born in 1658. Their work was featured in numerous exhibitions at key galleries and museums, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Langen Foundation. Ogata Kōrin’s work has been offered at auction multiple times, with realized prices ranging from $98 USD to $37,500 USD, depending on the size and medium of the artwork. Since 2012 the record price for this artist at auction is $37,500 USD for Hotei, sold at Christie’s New York in 2012. Ogata Kōrin has been featured in articles for the Apollo, the Asian Art and the Asian Art. The most recent article is The Lustre and Allure of Japanese Lacquer written by Emma Crichton-Miller for the Apollo in November 2018. The artist died in 1716.
