SMP Executive Director is Awarded the Stones “21” Award.

Citrus Heights, CA – 11/7/18 – Kathilynn Carpenter, Executive Director of Sunrise MarketPlace, was awarded the Stones “21” Award on November 7, 2018, at Stones Gambling Hall. Ms. Carpenter received this award for her exemplary commitment and dedication to the advancement of the City of Citrus Heights, a history of leadership and demonstrated passion or making a difference.

In a room filled with her family, friends, and members of the community, Ms. Carpenter was presented with a Resolution read by Kermit Schayltz, detailing her service and dedication to Citrus Heights over the past 20 years. Ms. Carpenter also received a certificate of recognition from Senator Jim Nielson’s office and a certificate of recognition from Assemblyman Ken Cooley’s office.

Accepting the award, Ms. Carpenter said: “Citrus Heights is a great community and we all work together as a team; we’re completely united in our desire to continually improve our community.” Carpenter thanked her family for their support as well as her coworkers, board members, the City, and colleagues in the Citrus Heights Chamber, Rotary and HART.

Ms. Carpenter has served as the Executive Director of the Sunrise MarketPlace business improvement district since 1999.  She is currently a board member and past Chair of the Citrus Heights Chamber and was named its 2002 Business Person of the Year. She has served as the Chair of the board of Citrus Heights HART since 2016.  Kathilynn was instrumental in forming this chapter of HART in 2015, as a more humane way to find solutions for the homeless in our community. Ms. Carpenter took a leadership role as Chairwoman of the Sacramento County Policy Planning Commission for three years, serving a total of five. She is also a member of Citrus Heights Rotary.
